Chief Deborah Smith met with Minister Eileen Clarke for an informative and productive meeting today.
Eileen Clarke is the Indigenous & Northern Affairs Minister for the Province of Manitoba.
Chief Smith spoke on economic development priorities in the community, as well as the current/future developments of the community’s TLE lands.
Brokenhead Ojibway Nation and Minister Clarke have committed to work collaboratively together moving forward.
Chief Smith presented Minister Clark with a beaded coin purse and in it was Chief Smith’s $5.00 that each treaty person receives annually from the federal government as required by the Indian Act. Clarke was truly humbled as this is a significant gift from the heart between two women in leadership positions.
